Recommended admission profile

The recommended profile for admission to the official doctoral programme in Spanish: Linguistics, Literature and Communication is that of a graduate in Spanish studies, journalism or audiovisual communication, advertising, or similar or related degrees, who has completed a master's degree related to the fields of Spanish and Latin American language and literature or the theory of literature in any of its aspects, as well as in the field of communication.

Students whose first language is different from that of the programme will be required to have an adequate command of the Spanish language, equivalent to at least the C1 certificate of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Access to this doctoral programme is particularly recommended for national or foreign students who have completed their bachelor's and/or master's degree studies in:

  • Spanish language.
  • General linguistics.
  • Spanish and Latin American literature.
  • Literary theory and comparative literature.
  • Journalism.
  • Audiovisual communication.
  • Advertising.
  • Other degrees in language studies.
  • Other humanities degrees.
  • Other degrees / bachelor's / master's degrees directly related to the above-mentioned studies and qualifications.

The requirements for access to doctoral studies are set out in article 6 of Royal Decree 99/2011, of 28 January, which regulates official doctoral studies, as amended by Royal Decree 576/2023, of 4 July.
